Sharjah City is widely known to cricket fans specially Indian subcontinent for the Sharjah Cricket Stadium. Sharjah Stadium is famous cricket venue in the world with modern amenities. It was built before 1980s by Abdul Rahman Bukhatir but it has been modernized day by day. About 200 one day internationals matches had been arranged in this stadium. Although the United Arab Emirates was not test playing country but four test matches were held in this Sharjah Stadium. Sharjah Stadium was organizer of many famous Cricket tournaments such as Sharjah Cup, the Asia Cup, the World Cup, Coca Cola Cup and Singer Akai Cup. Sharjah Cup was most thrilling tournament of those because of frequently involving India and Pakistan. As many immigrant of India and Pakistan are working in this city. When India vs. Pakistan cricket match is arranged then Sharjh was fulfilled with spectators. Sharjah Cricket Stadium was also synonymous of cricket games of India vs. Pakistan. Sharjah Stadium was proud of United Arab Emirates. But it is a matter of sorrow that due to match-fixing most important cricket matches or tournaments have not been arranging in this popular venue for 5 years. Where match-fixing is done by any man while this popular icon of cricket is victim for match-fixing innocently. Because of match-fixing many great cricketers were suspended. Even many of them were disqualified for life. But it is a first example in the world that any stadium is victim for match-fixing claim. For match-fixing claim India government banned to play Indian national cricket team at Shajah Cricket Stadium in the United Arab Emirates. Since then, major cricket tournament was not held in Sharja Stadium. As a result, Sharja Stadium has disconnected from cricket world. Although several cricket matches of Afghanistan and Pakistan have held at Sharja Stadium because of their current security situation. So, it has become matter of thinking for millions of cricket fans that when Sharja will be free from match-fixing claim and regain his prior fame.
